Our original WTC Memorial Tee Shirt was released within weeks following the September 11th attacks in response to the overwhelming number of requests from First Responders
turning out to Ground Zero, and from firehouses around the country who shared our grief. For the next 2 years a portion of the profits from our memorial designs were donated to charities that directly benefitted NYC's Firefighters and Police Officers resulting in over $250,000.00 in donations. The prime beneficiary was The Widows and Children's Fund of the FDNY Uniformed Firefighters Association (UFA). Other, distributions were made to the FDNY Officer's Union (UFOA), which established a scholarship fund for the children of the WTC firefighter victims; the PBA, SBA, DEA, Burn Center and some of the individual fire houses and police precincts' funds. Now we have another group in need. There are over 70,000 people considered to be "at risk" from their exposure to toxins at Ground Zero, including tens of thousands of rescue personnel. Hundreds have died, thousands are ill, and thousands more will become ill. We all need to help raise public awareness of the situation. Bergen Record "Flag Raising" The image that came to stand for American resiliency. Thomas E. Franklin, photographer for The Bergen Record captured three firefighters, William Eisengrein, George Johnson and Daniel McWilliams, raising a US flag they discovered on the back of a yacht inside a boat slip at the World Financial Center.
