NEW YORK FIRE Special Ops, Rescue & Squad ShirtsThe Special Operations Command of the FDNY, New York Fire Department, includes Rescue Companies, Marine Fire Boats, Hazardous Material Units (Haz-Mat) and Engine Squads. The responsibilites of SOC have grown over the decades and has more recently been shaped by the challenges New York City faces as the preeminent symbol of American Liberty and Strength. Squad 1 of FDNY located in Brooklyn has a patch that features an eagle clutching a pike and hose above the flames. Rescue 1 was established in 1914 and is located in midtown Manhattan. Rescue 2 -- FDNY's fire fighting "Bulldog" is in Brooklyn. Rescue 3 -- "Big Blue" and the FDNY Collapse Unit are located together in the Bronx. Rescue 4 is in Queens. Its patch shows a famous sailor delivering a knock out "10-75"; radio code for a "working fire". Rescue 5 is based on Staten Island and also responds to fires across the Bridge in Brooklyn.
